New year, new finances

18 Dec 2018

Christmas is upon us and 2019 will be here before you know it. With all the time and energy we’ve invested into the festive season, your finances is probably the last thing you want to do, but the earlier you start planning - the better!

That’s why we’ve compiled your very own ‘to-do list’ to achieve financial success!

Setting Financial Goals

We all have goals so, what do you want to accomplish in the new year?

Write down a list of what you want to achieve, this could include saving money for retirement or saving money for a large purchase. Whatever your goal, ensure you assign a monetary or timebound value to each goal.  Having a number in mind will help to keep you on track and give you the all important measure that you need.

Review your spending habits

Online banking has changed the way we keep track of our spending – and many of us find it more difficult to and keep us on the cashflow straight and narrow. Review your bank statements on a regular basis – it will help keep you understand where your money is being spent and help you keep cashflow positive.

Cutbacks

When you’ve finished reviewing your spending habits, it’s time to look at opportunities to reduce your spending. Even the smallest of cuts can make a difference and can help you achieve your goals for 2019. Seemingly minor things like your morning coffee on-the-go, or the monthly subscription that you never use can make a huge difference at the end of the year!

We’re not suggesting that you remove all the exciting elements out of your life, but we do recommend that you make sure you’re being reasonable and are keeping your finances in mind.

Invest in yourself

Here at N S Accounts & Technology, if we had to recommend a financial goal for 2019 for you as a business owner, we’d suggest investing in yourself, as a business. If you invest in yourself, you’re essentially investing in the business. There are several ways you can do that, including:

-      Attending a conference/networking event

-      Taking an online course

-      Working with a business coach or mentor

Investing in yourself can lead to new and better opportunities for you professionally.
